A little about me

Hello I'm Saya. My cultural heritage is a mix of Scottish and Japanese, both with great traditions of art and crafts. Graduated from Cardiff School of Art & Design and now based in Brighton. My love of ceramics started through Raku firings and the high risk, high rewards you can achieve. I then got into sculpture learning how far I can push the clay and scaling up my work. Influenced by cultural narratives, especially the mythical character of Trickster. I'm currently balancing my practice of making sculptural pieces with more functional works. Where I can explore slab building, colours and patterns. Hope you like them!
